2026 municipal elections: GIEVSS publishes five practical fact sheets to help future municipal teams take action

GIEVSS publishes five fact sheets for local elected officials, designed to support the implementation of electric mobility projects across local areas.

2026 municipal fact sheets - 5 levers for local elected officials

Ahead of the 2026 municipal elections, GIEVSS, the Global Institute of EV Standards & Safety, is publishing five practical fact sheets for future municipal teams to help them implement local electric mobility policies that are concrete and adapted to field realities.

Titled "Electric mobility, a key lever for the ecological transition in local areas - 5 actions to act locally", this publication highlights five action levers at municipal level that local authorities can mobilize directly, in both urban and rural areas.

Illustrated by feedback from local authorities already engaged in the transition, these fact sheets show that electric mobility is often a pragmatic solution that municipal teams can adopt and adapt to their territory, regardless of its size or equipment level.

"At local level, the ecological transition depends on very concrete decisions. Through these five fact sheets, we want to show that electric mobility is an immediately available lever for municipalities, serving residents' daily lives and the attractiveness of local areas", says GIEVSS leadership.

The five actions proposed focus in particular on:

  • installing publicly accessible charging stations,
  • electric car-sharing solutions,
  • incentive-based parking policies (free parking and benefits),
  • electric passenger shuttle services,
  • sustainable urban logistics.

Through this initiative, GIEVSS aims to equip local debate and show that the ecological transition can take shape from the municipal mandate onward through visible, practical decisions that are useful in daily life and bring residents together.
